Michael "Balls" Farabaugh

We are dedicating this, the 15th Bean Blossom BikerFest, to our Founder and Mentor, Michael “Balls” Farabaugh, who left us in March.

Michael “Balls” Farabaugh, along with his wife Debby, was the founder of Bean Blossom BikerFest. He had a vision of bringing the motorcycle party “back to Bean Blossom.” So…the Bean Blossom BikerFest was born 15 years ago in 2002.

Over the years, Balls has been a driving force in the motorcycle rights arena. He began in the early seventies when government was attempting to regulate the ever-popular choppers with their ape hanger handle bars, stretched forks and loud pipes. If you have ever heard Balls tell the story about Freedom Fighters gathering on the lawn of the Statehouse burning their helmets, you will never forget it! His fight for motorcycle rights continued throughout the years. He was involved in organizing ABATE of Indiana and was the Executive Director from 1978 to 1990. He founded the national “Meeting of the Minds” from which emerged a National Steering Committee and the Motorcycle Riders Foundation.

Community Service

This year we are giving back to our community - we are adding a Community Service component to BikerFest. We all know that bikers give back, and in that spirit, we are asking all BikerFest attendees bring a non-perishable can good to the event to be donated at the beginning of the run. If you can’t bring a food item, cash donations will be accepted.

On Saturday morning, our "Fun Run Ride" will begin at the BikerFest front gate! First stop will be Mother’s Cupboard Community Kitchen in Nashville. Donations will be dropped off, then the ride will proceed through the rolling hills of Brown County. The ride is being organized and led by Bloomfield Memorial Post 196 American Legion Riders. There is NO CHARGE for this Fun Run, only a donation of a food item or cash.

We ask that riders meet at the front gate at 9:30 am, with kickstands up promptly at 10 am. Plans are to be back to the park before the Field Games begin at 2:00 pm.

We are grateful to St. David’s Episcopal Church in Bean Blossom for their outreach to this year’s Bean Blossom BikerFest. They will be holding two events for all bikers during BikerFest.

Bikers Breakfast will be held on Friday, September 8 from 9 am - Noon at St. David's Episcopal Church in Bean Blossom . All bikers are welcome – enjoy a breakfast fit for biker appetites.

Blessing of the Bikes will be held Saturday, September 9 | Meet at the front gate of Bill Monroe's Music Park at 9:30 am Blessing begins at 9:45 am | Kickstands up 10 am.
The Blessing will be performed by St. David’s Episcopal Church prior to the Fun Run. Everyone is invited whether you are riding in the Fun Run or not...
